Animoto allows you and your students to create 30 second videos using picture and video files. If you have a school email address, you can use this address to sign up for Animoto for educators, which allows you to create videos without the thirty second time limit.
To begin, go to www.animoto.com
When you get to the main page, you will see this at the top of the page:
Click the Sign up button to sign up for an account. When you get to the page, it will look like this:
Enter all of the information to sign up for your account. Once you have been signed up, you will no have the ability to create 30 second videos. To create videos longer than 30 seconds, you will need to sign up as an educator. To do this, all you will need is a school email address. At the bottom of the home page (animoto.com) you will see this:
Click the word Education, which will bring you to this page:
Click the apply now button. When you click this button, you will be asked to enter your school email address. Once this step is completed, you can now make videos without a time limit.
Creating a video:
To create a video, once you are signed in, click the create a video button at the top of the page:
You will then be given options for what style you want your video to be in.
When you select a video, you will be able to preview what your video will look like. If you like the style, click the create video button.
When you create your video, you can add pictures that are already on your computer, from Facebook, or from any website of your choosing. You can also add music that is on your computer, or use music that they have on the website. Once your pictures, music and video are uploaded, click finalize. You can wait at this page, or have Animoto email you when your video is finalized. Once finalized, you can save a video to your computer and use it in other programs such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker, or save it in a different folder to show your class.
